Why use a wooden bread cutting board instead of an electric bread slicer?
Many of us eat bread daily. So why would you cut your bread manually while you can use an electric bread slicer? A good reason is because freshly cut bread tastes better, and you can choose a different thickness for each slice. Maybe you want a thin slice first, followed by a bigger slice that you can decorate with lots of veggies? Moreover, cutting bread manually is not a hard job. Just cut the slices you need for today, and keep the rest of the loaf for later. And best of all, a wooden bread cutting board occupies less space than a bread slicer and needs minimum maintenance. It’s eco-friendly too, because it does need no power, except of man power.
The ecological benefits of the Uulki bread and cutting board 2-in-1
We mentioned it before; a wooden bread board is more eco-friendly than an electrical bread slicer, since it needs no power. But our board has more eco-friendliness to it! It’s manufactured in Europe, from sustainable European beech wood. By producing locally, we help keep our transport kilometers low as well.
Beech wood: a hard wood, soft for your knives
Beech is a type of hard wood. Hard wood chopping boards are much better for knives than for example cutting boards made from glass. The latter is too hard, as a result of which knives get dull sooner. A cutting board made from synthetic material on the other hand is too soft, as a result of which a knife will make deep grooves in the board, which is a hotbed for bacteria. Wood, and especially beech, will bend a little bit as a reaction against knife carving, but will bend back to its original position. This protects your knives and your cutting board against deep carving grooves.
