Discover why wooden rolling pins are hygienic
Did you know that wood posesses antibacterial properties by nature? As a result, it’s perfectly hygienic and safe to use wooden rolling pins in contact with food (food contact safe). Of course, as with any other material, it’s important to take care of your rolling pin by thorough cleaning after use, in order to keep it hygienic. After cleaning, store your wooden rolling pin with rotating handles away from dust.
You can nourish your wooden dough roller with Uulki natural wood care
Wooden dough rollers are very sturdy and durable. One should however keep in mind the nature of wood. Wood reacts to moist and changes in temperature. Therefore it’s a good idea to finish your wooden rolling pin with Uulki wood oil for kitchen utensils and chopping boards from time to time. This will keep the wood nourished. You can also decide to oil the wood once your rolling pin looks dry or dull, as a way to revive its beauty and condition. Uulki natural wood oil protects the wood from the inside, and is 100% natural, plant-based / vegan and free from mineral oil or petroleum byproducts. Our wood oil does not go rancid, as opposed to the majority of similar plant-based oils. Read all about care and maintenance of wooden (and bamboo) kitchenware on our tips page.
How to clean your wooden rolling pin?
Cleaning a wooden rolling pin is a piece of cake! Clean with a damp cloth or if quite dirty, rinse the Uulki wooden dough roller under warm running water. In that case, use a mild dishwashing liquid, preferably odourless to avoid the wood from absorbing smells. Let air-dry. Wood is a natural product; cracks may occur under extreme conditions. Because of this, never leave the rolling pin in the water for a long time and dont’t place in the dishwasher.
